Sherwin Creek Campground

Sherwin Creek Campground is 2½ miles east of Mammoth Lakes Village. Although Sherwin Creek Campground doesn't have all the amenities of the other campgrounds around Mammoth Lakes, it offers a quiet refuge away from the buzz of activity around the lakes and town.

Sherwin Creek Campground opens early in May, ahead of many of the others. Many campers at Sherwin Creek take the time to hike up the trail to scenic Sherwin Lakes. Great views of Mammoth Mountain open up as you ascend the trail.

The 85 campsites may be reserved. Most of them are standard sites that can accommodate RVs, trailers, or tents. Fifteen sites are walk-in, tent-only sites set apart from the rest of the campground. The tent sites are the nicest in the campground, situated close to chattering Sherwin Creek. Campers at Sherwin Creek Campground may stay up to 21 nights.

Key Sherwin Creek Campground Regulations

  1. Fires are only allowed in fire rings.
  2. Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  3. Dogs must be on leash and attended at all times. No more than 2 pets are permitted per campsite.
  4. To avoid problems with bears, keep food in bear-proof lockers if provided.
