Aspen Group Campground

Aspen Group Campground is tucked along Rock Creek Road, 3¾ miles west of Highway 395 at Tom's Place. Campers at Aspen Group Campground are only 5 miles from pretty Rock Creek Lake with swimming, fishing, and boating. Rock Creek Lake has a 5 MPH speed limit. A nice day-use area with a beach is located on the southeastern side of the lake.

Several miles farther up the road are popular trails for day hikes into Little Lakes Valley. Nearby are mountain biking trails.

Aspen Group Campground has a single camping area for up to 25 people and 5 vehicles. The campground can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. A maximum of 5 trailers or RVs are permitted at the site. Groups at Aspen Campground find plenty of room to spread out tents in the spacious area near the creek.

South of Mammoth Lakes are a number of great camping areas along the Eastern Sierra. Among them are Rock Creek, Sabrina Lake, Convict Lake, South Lake, and Big Pine. Groups camped at Aspen Group Campground may wish to explore some of these areas.

  • Explore wonderful hiking trails leading into the Sierra Nevada.
  • Spend days among the beautiful Mammoth Lakes.
  • Take a day hike up the trail into Little Lakes Valley at Rock Creek.
  • Hike up Big Pine Creek past waterfalls to actor Lon Chaney's wilderness cabin.

Key Aspen Group Campground Regulations

  1. Fires are only permitted in provided fire rings.
  2. Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  3. Generators are allowed only during non-quiet hours; three-hour maximum run time and must be attended while running.
  4. Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times. No more than 2 pets are allowed per campsite.
  5. Avoid problems with bears by storing food and scented items in bear-proof lockers.

General Camping Information

Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the reservation site when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite. Purchase firewood locally to avoid spreading pests.
