Peninsula Campground is on the north shore of Rollins Lake, 15 miles from Colfax. Rollins Lake is operated by the Nevada Irrigation District. The lake is a popular camping destination since it is close to Interstate 80. Visitors enjoy water sports from swimming to waterskiing. Fishing is good for trout and bass. Peninsula Campground has a boat launch ramp, boat rentals, a swim beach, sand volleyball, and horseshoe pits.

Peninsula Campground features 70 campsites for RVs, trailers, or tents. The campsites are well spread out through 1½ miles of forested and lakefront property along a peninsula. Lake access is at the foot of the peninsula around the marina and swim areas. Twelve of the campsites are lakefront, 2 double sites are designated as meadow sites (no RVs or trailers), and the others are among the trees. Some lakefront and wooded campsites are doubles. There is a $8 per night fee for watercraft. There is a 2-night minimum stay on weekends and 3-nights on holiday weekends.

Peninsula Campground has 2 group camping areas. Bandy's Cove can accommodate up to 24 people (a maximum of 12 adults), with 3 vehicles included in the price. Martin's Cove can hold up to 40 people (a maximum of 20 adults), and rates include 4 vehicles. There is a 5-night minimum stay at Martin's Cove. Restroom are portable toilets. Water, picnic tables, and a fire pit are provided.

Attractions and Activities

Campers at Peninsula Campground can choose from a variety of campsites, including some right on the water. A short drive from the campground leads to many area attractions.

Key Peninsula Campground Regulations

  1. Entrance Gates close at 10:00 PM (11:00 PM Friday and Saturday) and reopen at 5:30 AM during the summer.
  2. There are no lifeguards on duty. Swim in the designated swim area.
  3. Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. During quiet hours the use of generators is not permitted.
  4. Fires are only allowed in the established fire pits and BBQ grills.
  5. Pets must be on leash and attended at all times. Pets are not allowed on the sandy beach area, but they are allowed in the water past the marina docks. No horses are allowed in Peninsula Campground.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on snow conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, purchase firewood locally.

Accessible Sites

Designated Accessible sites are usually reserved for people with disabilities who have a vehicle displaying an accessible parking placard or license plate.
