Pine Point Group & Family Campground

Pine Point Group & Family Campground is located in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, far up the McCloud River Arm of Shasta Lake. The campground is usually reserved by groups during the summer, but at other times it can be opened as an overflow campground for first come, first served camping.

Pine Point Group Campground has 15 campsites which can accommodate groups up to 100 people. However, it does not have group cooking or campfire facilities. Campsites accept small RVs, trailer, and tents. The campground is on a ridge above the lake. Oak and pine trees shade the site. Hirz Bay Boat Launch Ramp is 4 miles to the south. It is possible to bring boats up the campground for easy access. For groups using the campground, be sure to read the note below about the Locked Entry Gates.

The reservations website cautions: "Reservation holders must contact Shasta Recreation Office at least 1 week prior to arrival for a combination code to access campground; failure to do so could lead to a locked facility without access for a night or longer and no refund."

Shasta Lake is one of the most popular recreation lakes in the state. Those who camp at Pine Point Group & Family Campground find easy acccess to all the attractions of the lake.

Key Pine Point Group & Family Campground Regulations

  1. No amplified sound is permitted at the campground.
  2. To avoid problems with bears, store all food and similar items in bear-proof lockers, not in vehicles.
  3. Help prevent the spread of invasive pests by obtaining firewood locally.
  4. Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times. At night they must be kept in a vehicle or tent.

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.
