Hayward Flat Campground is along an inlet on Trinity Lake in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The campground is among the most popular around the lake because of its great lake access and abundant shade. The protected inlet by the campground usually has glassy water, great for waterskiing and wakeboarding. Anglers do well from the shore as well as trolling from a boat. A boat ramp is 3 miles away. Mooring of boats at the campground may be available.
Hayward Flat Campground offers 98 campsites in 5 loops. Those in the Dogwood and Elderberry loops have lake views and possible boat mooring. A swim beach is by the Elderberry Loop. All of the campsites can accommodate RVs, trailers and tents. Reservations are available for most campsites while a few are kept open as first-come, first-served sites.
