Preacher Meadow Campground

Preacher Meadow Campground is located in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, near Trinity Lake. The campground is along Swift Creek, 2 miles southwest of Trinity Center and the lake. Many campers choose the campground as a jumping off place for hikes into the Trinity Alps Wilderness. At nearby Trinity Center boat rentals are available. Out on the lake visitors enjoy boating, waterskiing, and fishing.

Preacher Meadow Campground has 45 campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents arranged around several loops. Because the campground is close to Highway 3, some road noise can be heard. Campsites are set in a Ponderosa pine and cedar forest. Instead of cooking grills, campsites are equipped with Klamath Ovens.

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. If using a reservation website, check to be sure your vehicles will fit in the parking space for your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, obtain firewood locally.

  • Rent a boat at one of Trinity Lake's marinas.
  • Five-mile long Lewiston Lake is a great place for canoes and kayaks. Fish for rainbow trout, brook trout, and brown trout.
  • Fly fish from float tubes in Lewiston Lake where the speed limit is 10 MPH.
