Butte Lake Campground is one of the favorites in Lassen National Park. Campsites are within walking distance of Butte Lake. Visitors enjoy hiking, kayaking, fishing, and swimming. The campground accommodates tents, RVs, and trailers. Loop D is for tents only.
Butte Lake Campground offers reservations for many of the campsites. Others are available for first-come, first-served. Butte Lake Campground also has a Group Campground and a Stock Corral Campsite. Read vehicle limitations on the reservation site carefully before making a reservation.
Butte Lake Campground is in the northeastern corner of Lassen Park. To reach the rest of the park, visitors must circle back via Highways 44 and 89 - 35 miles to Manzanita Lake and 60 miles to Lassen Peak.
Butte Lake Group Campground has 5 sites located at the west end of Loop B for groups from 10 to 25 people. The group sites have picnic tables, campfire rings, and food storage lockers along with flush toilets, showers, and tap water. Four vehicles may be parked at each campsite. Pets are allowed.
Butte Lake Stock Corral is a single site located east of the main campground. It is open from early June through mid-September. The site is available for a maximum of 8 animals, 10 people, and 6 wheeled-vehicles.
The camping area has tap water, a food locker, and vault toilets. The site includes two metal panel corrals. Stock parties must camp at the corral site. Pets are permitted.

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on snow conditions.
Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.
Accessible Sites
Designated Accessible sites are usually reserved for people with disabilities who have a vehicle displaying an accessible parking placard or license plate For visitors who are temporarily disabled or do not have their permanent accessible parking placard with them, pick up a temporary placard at the entrance station or a visitor center.
