Oak Hollow Campground

Oak Hollow Campground is located off the main park road, part way down into the Stanislaus River canyon, about 3 miles from the entrance station. The campground is in a mature conifer forest providing plenty of shade.

Visitors to the campground enjoy miles of hiking trails, especially through the Giant Sequoias. Fishing is good in the Stanislaus River and in Beaver Creek.

Of the 51 campsites in Oak Hollow Campground, 33 are designated tent-only sites. The remainder are open for RVs, trailers, or tents. Tent-only sites are spread apart and may require a short walk to carry camping gear to the sites.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on snow conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

For those camping at Oak Hollow Campground, Calaveras Big Trees State Park has a wide range of activities and attractions for visitors.

  • Hike along trails through two main groves of ancient Giant Sequoias.

Key Oak Hollow Campground Regulations

  1. Wood collecting is not allowed, including twigs and leaves.
  2. Generators may only be operated from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
  3. Secure food in bear-proof lockers. Bears are present.
